Pop-up Stall Success!

Young entrepreneurs from the Moree Community Library’s home-school program showcased their talents at a vibrant pop-up stall event on Thursday, December 14th, 2023.

Held at the Social Co House and funded by UNE SRI, this event marked the culmination of Term 4's business-focused educational activities led by Janeen Hunter and Reese Atchison from Moree Plains Shire Council Big Sky Library.

The Moree Community Library's home-school program provides an educational and social space for students, blending learning with fun. This term, the focus was on business and entrepreneurship, giving students a hands-on experience in setting up and operating a pop-up shop.

The pop-up shop, open from 10 am to 12 noon, saw students enthusiastically setting up their stalls and showcasing products they had created themselves. Items for sale included tomato and succulent potted plants, decorated t-shirts, silk clay sensory corners, necklaces, cushions, pour art canvases, and clay figurines. The students marketed the event themselves, designing posters using Canva and perfecting their sales pitches.

Approximately 30 community members visited the pop-up stall, with nearly all the stock selling out. The plants and pour art items were particularly popular. Customers were impressed with the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by the students, describing the event as a great life lesson and a worthwhile creative experience.

The success of this pop-up stall not only provided practical business experience but also sparked a vision for many of these young entrepreneurs to one day own their own businesses. As we look forward to the future entrepreneurial developments of these students, the Moree community can take pride in having supported the next generation of business leaders.

This event was made possible through the funding and support of the Federal Government Murray–Darling Basin Economic Development Program and the NSW Government Accelerating Regional Innovation Fund, in association with Moree Plains Shire Council.
