Game engines and game design, CDMC workshop 1

  • NOVA 122 Faulkner Street Armidale, NSW, 2350 Australia (map)

During fortnightly workshops over 6 months, the Digital Creative Media Group will bring together a group of aspiring creatives focused on the digital creative industries. The goal is to create a thriving community of digital creatives and kickstart this industry in the New England area!

Workshop 1 is an introduction to game engine and game design with Project Lead and game designer Brendan Mooney.

This session will get participants neck deep in the Unity game engine…

We will cover the basics of the game engine including what it can be used for, navigating around, how a game loop works, and we will play with some virtual Lego!

We will discuss what makes a game fun and design some game mechanics.

Participants will need a laptop no older than 3 years (a dedicated graphics card is recommended) and an external mouse. If you can't bring a laptop, please contact the SRI and we can reserve a computer for you (these are limited in number).
