Transforming Visions into Reality: Writing Winning Grants, Tenders, and Awards

On Tuesday, 27 February, the UNE SRI hosted an engaging SMART Session called 'Writing Winning Grants, Tenders, and Awards' in Tamworth.

The goal of this event, which was part of the SMART Sessions series, was to empower local business owners by equipping them with the necessary tools and insights to secure awards, tenders and grant funding for their innovative projects and ideas.

Crystal McGregor, an experienced entrepreneur and innovation advocate, led the workshop - delving into the complexities of navigating the competitive landscape of grants, tenders, and awards. Attendees were guided through the art of crafting compelling applications that articulate their vision and resonate with decision-makers.

Crystal emphasised that the world of grants and tenders can be complex and competitive, and this session helped demystify the process by offering practical advice and insider tips to help participants stand out. The event was highly engaging, with attendees actively participating in discussions, sharing personal experiences, and seeking advice tailored to their projects.

The workshop covered essential topics such as where to find funding opportunities, how to prepare winning applications, and the critical elements of successful proposals. Crystal added a valuable practical dimension to the session by sharing real-life success stories, drawing from her extensive experience as an application writer and an assessor of grants and awards.

For many attendees, hearing about Crystal's personal experiences and learning from her expertise was highlighted. One participant remarked that it was inspiring to learn from someone who has successfully secured more than $ 5 million in grant funding for different businesses and initiatives from various industries - essentially, learning from someone walking the talk!

The workshop concluded with a networking session over morning tea, allowing attendees to connect and chat further before Crystal commenced one-on-one sessions.

The 'Writing Winning Grants, Tenders, and Awards' workshop is part of the ongoing SMART Sessions series offered by the UNE SMART Region Incubator. These practical workshops, led by subject matter experts, give business owners the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in today's competitive landscape.

Proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Tamworth Regional Council.
