On June 19, 2024, Moree's agricultural community came together for the Moree AgTech Breakfast at Social Co House.

The event, organised by UNE SRI in collaboration with Cicada Innovations, brought together 50 attendees including growers, agronomists, accountants, tech companies, researchers, and tech founders to explore the transformative power of AgTech in the agricultural sector.

The breakfast event featured TED-style talks, interactive discussions, and lively Q&A sessions that facilitated knowledge sharing and networking. It highlighted how technology is revolutionising agriculture, enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and productivity across the sector.

Lachlan Elworthy of McGregor Gourlay discussed the integration of precision agriculture technologies, emphasising how advanced sensors, drones, and data analytics are enabling farmers to make informed decisions, optimize resource usage, and increase crop yields.

Jack Rickers from Hiringa Energy and Green Hydrogen Wathaga spoke about the potential of green hydrogen to power agricultural operations sustainably, emphasising the importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources to reduce carbon footprints and operational costs.

Allan Every, IoT & Agri-Tech Manager of Field Solutions, gave an overview of internet connectivity options and emphasized the importance of connectivity with tech apps and farm operations.

Sophie Venz, representing Young Aggies, shared her experiences as a young farmer embracing technology, highlighting the importance of engaging the next generation in agricultural innovation.

The panel was facilitated by Brooke Sauer, owner and director of IntellectAg, who ensured a seamless flow of discussions and encouraged audience participation during the Q&A session.

The Moree AgTech Breakfast was a testament to the region's commitment to embracing innovation and driving the future of agriculture. It provided attendees with new knowledge and ideas and a renewed sense of optimism for the possibilities that AgTech holds for Moree's agricultural landscape.

Looking ahead, the organising teams from UNE SRI and Cicada Innovations are planning future events to continue the conversation and support the growth of AgTech in the region, sowing the seeds of innovation for the future of farming in Moree.
