Learning to scale with impact in Glen Innes

A small group of local business owners gathered in Glen Innes on the 26th June for a hands-on SMART Session led by Edwina Sharrock, founder and former CEO of Birth Beat.

The workshop provided practical insights into the key principles of scaling a business while addressing the unique challenges and opportunities faced by regional entrepreneurs.

The intimate setting allowed participants to engage in focused, meaningful conversations, with plenty of one-on-one guidance from Edwina. Drawing on her own experience of scaling her online education business from Tamworth, Edwina shared strategies for identifying growth opportunities, leveraging technology, and making data-driven decisions—all while staying true to the core values of a business.

The session covered a range of topics, including understanding the right time to scale, adopting essential tech tools like CRMs and project management platforms, and integrating sustainability into business growth plans. Edwina’s case study of Birth Beat resonated strongly with participants, as she candidly discussed the challenges she overcame and the lessons she learned along the way.

In addition to the workshop, founders had the opportunity to book one-on-one sessions with Edwina for tailored advice. This personalised approach was particularly well-received in the small but committed Glen Innes community, with participants leaving the session feeling better equipped to navigate the complexities of scaling their businesses.

This event was proudly funded under the Accelerating Regional Innovation Fund through the NSW Government and delivered in collaboration with the Glen Innes Severn Council.
