The Black Gully Festival is an annual community-led festival in Armidale, with environmental sustainability as one of its core themes. This year, the UNE SRI will deliver a CleanTech Futures Series event as part of the festival!
Resource security is an issue that transcends natural disasters, and is a topic that is important to consider in light of increasing population, war, climate change and pandemics impacting transport systems and resource availability. Right now is also an import time to consider consumption, and how we may be empowered to better live within our means and move into a more circular economy rather than a throwaway consumer society.
Two speakers will present, and then by participate in a Q&A at this CleanTech Futures Series #6:
UNE SRI founder and Clean Tech entrepreneur Llewellyn Owens, Vesi Water will share his work and discuss water security and innovation.
Dr Nicolette Larder, a human geographer at the University of New England who undertakes research into the social and cultural dynamics of the Australian food and agriculture systems, will share her work with a number of community-based organisations trying to build a more just and sustainable food system.
Following the Futures Series event, there will be a presentation facilitated by Glen Chapman (Southern Blue Regenerative) and featuring UNE SRI founder Richard Daugherty (Balala Butcher Box) and orchardist, cider maker and engineer, Tom Yeomans.
Stay on for the whole conversation in the Black Gully Festival 'Speakers Tent' presented by UNE SRI!
This event is proudly funded by the NSW Government under the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund and delivered in association with Armidale Regional Council.
