EMERGE is specifically designed for UNE students, HDR students, PhD-I, researchers, faculty and staff who are ready to take their research results to the next level. This 3-week program includes a series of interactive workshops from several guest speakers on the following topics:
Exploring commercial and social opportunity if research, including an introduction to Intellectual Property and Ideation
An overview of business models for academic start-up and spin-offs
What is the value of research, including the fundamentals of raising capital and other funding strategies for science-based businesses
Complete a market research and understand your ideal customer
At the end of the program, you should walk away with an understanding of how you can identify and protect the IP that is key to your research, the business models that are most suitable for commercializing your research, and the funding strategies to get your idea off the ground.
