‘Tackling Climate Resilience with Agritech’ field days across region

One of the driving narratives of government policy is that new agritech will best prepare producers for managing climate variability.

UNE SRI partnered with InAg.Tech and the Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales (SQNNSW) Drought Resilience Hub to deliver five events in three days across the region - focusing on agritech to support agricultural producers to manage climate variability.

Part of UNE SRI’s AgriTech Futures Series, the ‘Tackling Climate Resilience with Agritech’ field days showcased technologies that improve management and decision making on farm, and are resilient to drought and climate variability.

Dr Alex Ball provided a keynote presentation to 75 people at the first event, which was held at the UNE SMART Farm Innovation Centre in Armidale on Monday 4 April. A number of agritech providers shared their solutions. Companies included: FarmLab, Optiweigh, Ag360, Farmbot, StevTech, GlenRAC, LX Group, Zetifi, Crown Analytical Services, Goanna Ag, and Vanderfield.

In Moree on Tuesday 5 April, DeltaAg and Farmers Edge joined the showcase, and Brooke Sauer provided the keynote presentation.

The final event was held in Narrabri on 6 April. Dale Kirby delivered the keynote. SieraTek and Farm Simple joined the showcase and added to a well rounded team of agritech solutions for producers!

With the support of the local councils in Armidale, Moree and Narrabri, the opportunity to meet with producers and technologists provided lots of discussion and connections.

The UNE SRI would like to acknowledge the support of InAg.Tech for enabling this AgriTech Futures Series.
