Innovation Challenge produces solutions for real problems

At Agmentation 2022 individuals worked in teams and devised solutions to three problems that matter to agricultural producers and rural communities.

Each team brought together a unique blend of diverse talents, skills, insight and experience - and included high school and university students, researchers, producers, and other community members.

This year’s theme was Climate Adaptive Agriculture and asked:

·       How might we identify the tools that add value to our farm businesses to increase resilience to climate variability?

·       How might we design our communities differently to best prepare for climate variability?

·       How might we protect biodiversity in times of climate crisis?

At the end of the event, each team had devised a solid solution that is ready for next steps!

These are the teams and a brief capture of their ideas:

Stockies To Cockies: Optimising water by creating underground storage and reticulation systems that also generate energy.

Future Aggies: Transforming the way producers engage with trusted advisors to get solutions to climate adaptive practices for their farm.

The Shifters: Ramping up access to decision-making tools that make a difference for local like-minded networks.

Water Collective Society: Collecting data and sharing it within the New England LGA to create evidence-based solutions

Bioincentivise: Funding mechanisms for managing underutilised land for innovative farming practices.

Rain Bank: Storing water and maximising collection processes.

Future Generational Carbon: Integrating data from key production.

Adaptive Agriculture: Diversifying farm businesses through education that turns misfortunes into opportunities.

Rural Sharks: Nurturing new innovations in manufacturing in rural community networks.
