UNE SRI bringing the cow into the room at Tamworth’s AgSMART

2-3pm Thursday 10th March

The UNE SMART Region Incubator (UNE SRI) is excited to bring to Tamworth “The Cow in the Room”, part of the 2022 AgriTech Futures Series, held in collaboration with major sponsor, InAg.Tech. This session will be held 2pm on Thursday 10th March at Tamworth’s AgSMART.

The Cow in the Room seminar will deliver an insight into the role of cattle in managing climate, and how local food producers and associated businesses can build market opportunity in the face of climate impacts.

Attendees will hear an overview of the climate efficiencies and nutritional benefits behind meat consumption from UNE’s Associate Professor Peter McGilchrist. Not only is this topic important from a consumer perspective, it’s also a valuable tool for the local supply chain industry to strengthen market opportunities from both a climate responsibility and consumer marketing perspective.

Professor McGilchrist will be joined by Dr Holland Dougherty, of UNE and NSW DPI, who will present the concept of livestock as climate “upcyclers”.

This seminar is a must for growers and broader members of the supply chain, agricultural professionals, innovators and climate-minded consumers curious to adopt responsible animal protein food choices.

The Cow in the Room is free, however attendees will need to pay the $6 entry fee to AgSMART, held at TRECC, Rodeo Drive, Tamworth.

The UNE SMART Region Incubator will be exhibiting for two full days at AgSMART. As part of their remit to drive innovation across our region, visitors to the stand will be able to share their next big idea in return for a gourmet cookie. All visitors are encouraged to drop by stand L/09 where all ideas will be on display. UNE SRI staff will also be on hand to discuss opportunities and support for startups and small businesses.
