Armidale community springs into optimism

Optimism is a belief that good things will happen.

Because it is an important sentiment in building strong economic development, the Armidale community joined in a number of events sharing what makes us optimistic.

“The abundance of opportunity and people to help make things happen in the region, were common points shared,” said Dr Lou Conway, Director of the UNE SMART Region Incubator.

“A public debate captured the practices of our local leaders to maintain their optimism in building a better future. Whether it is our families, working alongside others, living in a safe and beautiful New England landscape, sharing culture and language, the community, or just a personal commitment to be positive and smile more, our local leaders shared their belief that optimism is central to taking action.”

The Spring into Optimism Festival, hosted by the UNE SRI on 1 and 2 September also included over 40 high school leaders who gathered at Armidale Secondary School.  Working with Chief Optimist from the Centre for Optimism Victor Perton, students talked about how to grow optimism in their schools, and making optimism  a hallmark of their leadership into 2023.
